Our philosophy at Texas K9 is about creating a relationship between your K9 and you that is built on positive interaction and consistency. If this relationship is properly built from the beginning there is always a communication link between you and you K9 companion. In addition, this facilitates faster learning in future training. This philosophy follows the scientific behavioral principles of operant conditioning and involves using the least aversive approach possible in every training case.
Texas K9 teaches students how to build a proper relationship with their K9 and how to become a dog trainer using marker and/or clicker training techniques that teach dogs behaviors through luring, shaping, and capturing. Although there are many types of dog training methods used today, we primarily focus on and encourage the use of positive reinforcement.
Instruction incorporates a variety of animal training methods and ideologies that provide the most comprehensive education for our students. Although we primarily use positive reinforcement training techniques, we also provide students with an overall education on correction and punishment and when these would be appropriate to use.
Texas K9 believes in a balanced training system that uses rewards and proven scientific training techniques to provide safe, humane and effective K9 training practices.
