This is where it all begins. Obedience is critical to all types of K9 training. We combine positive reinforcement and marker training for the best results. Learning these skills correctly through a good foundation allows cross training into many different disciplines.

Texas K9 – At Your Service
Texas K9 trainers continue to advance their skills by keeping updated in training philosophies and methodologies. Those skills are taught to students so they can become K9 trainers and handlers in whatever discipline they desire.
OBEDIENCE
RALLY
Get your feet wet in competition and still have fun with your K9 companion. Rally allows you to talk to and encourage your dog while negotiating a series of movements that you and your dog perform together.
NOSEWORK
Build a great relationship with your K9 companion through Nosework. Dogs learn to tell their handlers where hidden odors are. This program is modeled after Police K9 detection dogs. Handlers learn to “Trust their Dog” Essential oils are used and referred to as “Civilian Odors.” If your dog needs a confidence builder, this is the sport for them!
CONFORMATION
Learn the techniques to properly handle your K9 in the conformation show ring. Dogs and handlers learn their dogs breed standard and correct structure as well as the patterns and expectations of presenting a dog to a judge in the best manner possible.
DOCK DIVING
Dock Diving is a fun and exciting sport for you dog. It involves the handler throwing a bumper or toy in a competition type pool and having the dog jump into the water after the toy. Any dog can participate as long as they love water, know how to swim and have a natural passion to retrieve.
There are two different ways the dog can go after the bumper, they can run down the dock and jump off after a bumper that is thrown into the water or they can run down the dock and leap up into the air over the water for a bumper attached to a mechanism that is above the water.
Texas K9 sponsors trials with K9 Pro Dogs in Greenville, Texas every month from May through September.
AGILITY
Dog agility is a sport in which a handler directs a dog through an obstacle course in a race for both time and accuracy. Dogs run off leash with no food or toys as incentives, and the handler can not touch the dog or obstacles
LIFE SKILLS
Learn how to manage puppy or adults and properly channel all that energy into desired behaviors. If you are not interested in competition sports but need the skills to manage day to day life with your companion, Texas K9 will give you the skills needed to accomplish this.
TRACKING
Tracking is a canine sport that demonstrates a dog’s natural ability to recognize and follow a scent, and is the foundation of canine search and rescue work. Much like Nosework the dog is completely in charge because only the dog knows how to use his nose to find and follow the track.
MONDIORING
Mondioring is a protection sport that is open to all breeds of dogs and encompasses French Ring, Belgian Ring, KNPV and Schutzhund skills. A series of exercises is executed by the dog and handler team in obedience, jumps and protection. Mondioring dogs compete without a collar or leash in all exercises. Dogs must be clear headed and have excellent character to be successful in this sport. No two trial fields or programs are ever alike which presents very unique challenges.
Mondioring also offers an “Obedience Only” program with or without jumps so all dogs can compete in this amazing sport.
